6. Back to school
Time feels squishy since the pandemic. Minutes speed up and slow down in whatever way is most inconvenient, and things keep blurring together. If I'm not careful, I can wake up to find a week, summer, or year has passed.
That is why I started exploring Cartograph in the first place. I felt there was a need for a new and easier way of recording one's life - some method to help me and others experience things more deeply, reconnect with loved ones, and learn and grow over time.
So, as I start the final year of my grad program, I am excited to embark on an Independent Study (advised by Karen Reuther) to develop Cartograph into an immersive and impactful whole-product experience. I will conduct user interviews, design and develop a completely updated version for Cartograph, and build around ten prototypes for people to test and experience. This will help me realize my goal of launching a small-scale production run of Cartograph sometime early next year.
If you have ideas based on your journaling/note-taking/mental health practices or would like to test Cartograph's newer version, send me a note! I would love to hear from you.
